Known for his unabashed command of color (check out this amazing yellow floor), designer Miles Redd certainly embraces a #beyondthebeige approach to interiors. In fact, his ultra-chic kids’ bathroom made it onto our list of the best Scalamandré interiors. To celebrate the launch of our collaboration with Scalamandré, we asked Redd to reflect on the importance of the iconic zebra motif. He remarked:
“I fell in love with the zebra paper when I first saw it in dearly departed Gino’s, an old school Italian boit on the Upper East Side patronized by decorators who enjoyed a martini or two at lunch. Wes Anderson made it an instant classic when he used it The Royal Tenenbaums—It just screams zippy, good times! I don’t know a lot of papers that have the ability to make you feel like you are actually in the paper (as one of the zebra’s leaping with joy), but somehow it does it and well that is my whole raison d’etre.”
CLASSIC WITH A POP OF CORAL
Black Ticking Stripe By SF Girl By Bay, Raven Linen, Coral Zebra By Scalamandré
For his sharp mix, Redd pairs the zebras with a tailored ticking stripe and a textured linen. The combination feels timeless yet whimsical—like so many of his interiors.
A gorgeous dose of Scalamandré tiger stripes.
