BOHEMIAN BLUES

Christiane’s living room features a pattern inspired by one of her favorite vintage indigo textiles. When drawing inspiration for the fabric, she looked closely at Shibori, a Japanese indigo dyeing technique that uses pleats and binds to create patterns on cloth (more on that history here). At The Inside, we interpreted the storied method to create our own Shibori-inspired design, seen here in our Cocktail Chair.

In warmer months, the sliding doors to Christiane’s deck almost always remain open. Her dining area features a set of iconic Eames DCM chairs and our very own Mid-Century Bench. The Throw Pillow offers a summery stripe.
RELAXED VIBES

For her living room, Christiane wanted to create an easygoing space with a “lived-in” look, which is why she chose a print for the sofa: “You have no idea what you can hide with a print. It’s a riff on the traditional ‘cottage’ vibe. It references florals and wood but in a modern way. I also picked up on subtle blues that are used in traditional ‘beach decor’ but not in an obvious way,” Christiane shares. She selected a Cocktail Ottoman, rather than a traditional coffee table, suggesting that this is a home in which to kick back and relax.
VACATION STRIPES

Cabana Stripes are synonymous with vacation. For her guest bedroom, Christiane selected a platform bed that presents the classic stripe in a modern way. Like the rest of the home, it’s crisp and clean yet beachy and inviting—a recipe for the perfect retreat.
